Used Forklifts For Sale
Before you start looking for used forklifts for sale you are going to want to figure out what all you are going to be using the machine for. Take the time to jot down a list of the different duties that the forklift will be performing. Once you have the list ready you can figure out which type of forklift is going to perform the best in your operations. There are two main types of forklifts, electric and gasoline powered. Each type performs better under certain conditions, but they both have their downfalls, as well.
Gasoline Powered Forklifts
When it comes to being able to carry a heavy workload and doing it quickly, nothing can really top a gasoline powered forklift. If you are planning on using the forklift for heavy duty jobs you are going to want to go this route. However, if you are going to be using the machine inside of a building you are going to have to make sure that there is adequate ventilation to ensure that you are not going to create potential health hazards from the exhaust fumes that are produced by it. You can find combustion forklifts that are powered by propane gas if you are worried about leaving black exhaust fumes on the equipment and inventory that you are going to be working around.
Gasoline and propane powered forklifts are generally cheaper to purchase, you will have to take into account the added costs of operating them. Even though the price of the forkift may be lower than an electric powered machine you will need to take fuel costs into consideration when you are purchasing it. They have a higher operating overhead than electric based machines because of the extra fuel costs. Their fuel consumption does help make them easier to operate quickly, when you compare them to having to charge an electric forklift.

Electric Powered Forklifts
Electric powered forklifts are excellent for use in closed confinements or in areas where you are not able to properly ventilate the building to be able to use a gasoline powered forklift. The electric models produce zero exhaust fumes that can harm you or your workers, but their major downfall is that you cannot used them in extremely wet or humid environments, or outside whenever rain is falling down. You will have to make sure that the used forklift you are purchasing either contains the battery charging station, or that you can afford to purchase one after you buy the forklift, though.
If you compare the operating costs of an electric powered machine to that of a gasoline powered forklift it is substantially lower. Electric forklifts do cost more to purchase them initially, but you do not have to keep a fuel source where you are working in order to be able to refill the machine if it runs out of gas. There are also a lot less moving parts on electric forklifts which makes them much cheaper to repair and maintain than a gasoline engine. The downfall to this, however, is that they do not move near as quickly and are unable to handle the heavier loads that a gasoline powered forklift can.
As long as you think about where you are going to be using the forklift the most, and under what conditions it will be operated in you can come to a pretty easy conclusion about which engine type is right for you. If you are operating mainly indoors, and cannot properly exhaust the building you are going to want to go with an electrical based forklift. However, if you are operating outdoors, under heavier loads, or have the adequate ventilation setup, you will want to find gasoline powered used forklifts for sale.
